John Hopkins Gaar

John Hopkins Gaar, 76, of Pine Mountain, Georgia, passed away on August 26, 2025. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oglethorpe University and went on to build a successful career as a sales representative with Zee Medical. He was known for his dedication, professionalism, and calm, thoughtful demeanor.

A longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Pine Mountain, John valued his faith and the sense of community the church brought into his life. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady character, and deep commitment to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Albert Gaar; his brother, Charles Gaar; and his son, James Albert Gaar.

John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Becky Gaar; his son, John L. Gaar (Anna); his stepdaughter, Christi Long; and his grandchildren, Dane Long and Holly Long. His legacy of love and kindness will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

A graveside service for John will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
