

John was born on March 3, 1937, in Corning, New York, to the late John W. Thomas, Sr. and Helena Davidson Thomas. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1963 with an MBA.
John began his distinguished career at Xerox Corporation in 1963, where he served as a global executive for 31 years until his retirement in 1994. He was widely respected for his leadership, vision, and global influence during a transformative era in business technology.
A proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution, John was passionate about history, mentorship, and civic engagement. He found great joy in helping others succeed and in honoring the legacy of those who came before him.
John was a loving husband and father who took great pride in his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael John Thomas. He is survived by his son, Scott Adrian Thomas, and his spouse, Daniel M. Hoke Jr.; his late son Michael’s wife, Kathy Stevens Thomas; and his two cherished grandchildren, Justin Thomas and Sarah Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia. This will be an opportunity to visit with Scott and Rosemary and share memories of John. A private interment of ashes will follow at the columbarium of Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine, Florida at a later date.
