Johnnie Hightower Nicholson

Mrs. Johnnie Dell Hightower Nicholson, 86, of Buckhead, passed away peacefully September 2, 2016. Johnnie was born Johnnie Dell Bryan, March 21, 1930 to Della and Benny Bryan. She was reared in East Atlanta with two sisters, Frances (deceased) and Mary Nell Bryan. She attended Girls High in Atlanta.

Later she married her childhood sweetheart, Bert Hightower, and they moved to Snellville, GA. While living there their son, Buz, was born. Their daughter, Bobbie Dale (deceased) was born after they moved back to East Atlanta.

Johnnie’s interests were music, gardening and golf. After Bert passed away in 1989, Johnnie met and married Charlie Nicholson in 1994. They relocated to Atlanta where she enjoyed being closer to her son and daughter. She resided in Dunwoody and Roswell neighborhoods for about ten years after Charlie’s death.

She is survived by her son, Buz Hightower and spouse, Keith Bjorklund; sister, Mary Nell Bryan; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Hightower; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held graveside at Crestlawn Cemetery, Tuesday September 6 at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntington Disease Society of Aamerica. Website HDSA.ORG. Online condolences may be made at hmpattersonspringhill.com.
