Joseph Keith Cornwell

Keith was a graduate of Fayette County High School before continuing his education at the University of Georgia and earning his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law. He dedicated his career to serving others as a consumer bankruptcy attorney, helping individuals and families rebuild their financial lives with dignity and hope. As the owner of his own law practice for many years, Keith earned the trust and respect of both clients and colleagues through his unwavering commitment to honesty, integrity, and transparency.

Keith possessed a rare gift for making people feel truly seen, heard, and appreciated, regardless of their circumstances. Whether meeting with a client, spending time with friends, or greeting someone at a gathering, he made every interaction meaningful. His kindness, compassion, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Keith was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. His humor was always rooted in kindness, and people naturally looked forward to seeing him because they knew he would leave them smiling. He was just a joy to be around. He was a loyal friend, a thoughtful listener, and a man admired for his intelligence, practicality, and logical approach to problem solving.

Outside of his profession, Keith found joy in music, spirited conversations about politics, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. He appreciated good conversation and treasured the friendships he built throughout his life.

Keith is preceded in death by his Parents Gregory Keith Cornwell and Sheila Theresa Brantley Cornwell, and his grandparents Joseph Felton Cornwell and Reba Marlene Lovin Cornwell, and William Martin Brantley and Patricia Ealon Brantley. He is survived by his beloved son William Cornwell, and by his former wife and William’s mother, Alexandra Miller, whose enduring close friendship remained one of the defining relationships of his life. He also leaves behind his beautiful dog, Georgia.

Keith's legacy is one of compassion, integrity, generosity, and quiet service to others. He will be remembered for the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humor, loyalty, and unwavering character.

He will be deeply missed by his son, family, friends, clients, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
