Kathryn Tomlinson Bridges, a native of Atlanta, died Tuesday at home surrounded by her large and loving family.
“KT”, as she was fondly called, was married to the love of her life, William Russell (“Billy”) Bridges, Jr for 63 years and is the daughter of the late Kate Palmour and Elwyn White Tomlinson. She attended E. Rivers Elementary School, Washington Seminary, and Vanderbilt University.
Kathryn was a dedicated member of Northside United Methodist Church for over 60 years and a leader in many organizations, including The Atlanta Junior League (past President), The Westminster Schools (former Trustee), and the Atlanta Speech School (Board of Directors 1962-2000).

She enjoyed hiking in Cashiers and walking tours with her friends; playing bridge; and taking her family to Jackson Hole in the summers. Family gatherings and traditions were a priority: Sunday morning family breakfasts; legendary Christmas Eve parties; attending the activities of her children and grand-children; and the annual “Cemetery Sunday” family outing.
She also gave her time and resources generously volunteering and supporting the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Atlanta Historical Society, Meals-on-Wheels, and the Good Samaritan Health Center.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elwyn White Tomlinson, Jr., Elwyn Candler Tomlinson and Mark Palmour Tomlinson.
KT is survived by her husband William Russell (Billy) Bridges, Jr. as well as her five children and their spouses, Kathryn Bridges Miller (Ward), William Russell Bridges, III (Lisa), Elwyn Tomlinson Bridges (Linda), Walter Patrick Bridges (Jennifer) and Mary Kate Bridges Hewes (Joe).
She is also survived by twelve wonderful grandchildren Kathryn Rankin Miller Langley (Travis), Kenneth Ward Miller, III (Shawna), William Bridges Miller, Pierson Bridges Thornton (John), William Satterthwaite Bridges, Andrew Russell Bridges, Hillary Anne Bridges, Elwyn Tomlinson Bridges, Jr., Joseph Tomlinson Bridges, Walter Patrick Bridges, Jr., Kathryn Palmour Hewes and Joseph Poindexter Hewes, Jr. as well as two great granddaughters, Lillian Hartsell Langley and Eden Kathryn Langley.

After a private burial at Westview Cemetery, a celebration of her life will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Northside United Methodist Church followed by a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Atlanta Speech School, Northside United Methodist Church or the Good Samaritan Health Center, Atlanta.
