Mrs. Moore was born on April 26, 1946, in Atlanta, GA to the late Robert Brannon and Joanne Hays Persons. She grew up in Atlanta, GA, Roanoke, VA, and Catonsville, MD. She had resided in Atlanta for over 50 years and more recently in Shellman Bluff, GA, for 4 years. She graduated from Catonsville High School in 1964 and then attended the University of Maryland. She married the love of her life, Ray Shelley Moore, in 1966, with whom she spent 52 wonderful years. Kathy devoted her life to her family, friends, God and the church. They truly were the focus of her life. Wonderful, enduring memories of her fun-loving sense of humor, gentle love and thoughtfulness, and help and support she gave to others will be treasured by all whom she touched. She will be cherished and greatly missed by her daughter, Joanna (Ron) Warren of Athens, GA, her brother, Robert Brannon (Gloria) Persons, Jr., of Atlantic Beach, FL, her sister, Jan (Johnny) McKay of Tallahassee, FL, her brother, Cecil Craighill (Debbie) Persons of Alexandria, AR, and her granddaughter, Rebecca Joanne Rainbow of Charlottesville, VA. She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a member of Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, a former long-time member of Brookhaven United Methodist Church, and a devoted helper of many in the communities where she lived and beyond. Services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta. Services will be conducted by Rev. Carol Fox at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home chapel. Graveside service will be officiated by Rev. Fox, followed by interment, at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy., NW, Atlanta at 12:30 P.M. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 3308 Shellman Bluff Rd., NE, Townsend, GA 31331 directed to the Building Fund.
