Our cherished, full of life, wanderlust, Krzysztof (Kris) Sokolowski, born on July 6, 1972, in Manhattan to Zbignew (Michael) Sokolowski and Eugenia Sokolowska, passed away in his Brookhaven home on Monday, February 20, 2023, at the age of 50.
Raised in Queens, NY, Kris was actively involved at St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church and graduated from Holy Cross High School. At the young age of 12, Kris started working on his leadership skills at the family delicatessen, directing and ensuring the deli ran smoothly. His leadership skills and drive continued throughout his career.
At 19, Kris' love for technology and communications began when he started working for AT&T as a Polish Operator while attending Saint John's University. For the next 22 years, Kris grew within the company, taking on leadership roles and relocating across the US due to his exceptional performance and management style. With Kris' entrepreneurial drive, he became the Founder and CEO of Quantum Tech Solutions, which still holds strong today. In 2018, he joined NTT, Ltd as Director - Sales, Head of Channel and Global Accounts.
When AT&T relocated Kris back to Atlanta in 2009, he met his soon-to-be wife, Elizabeth McGeady. After their first date in South Africa in October 2009, they were married on July 26, 2010, and were blessed with a son, Braden Michael, born on Christmas Eve. This was when the real adventures began, traveling as a family throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States to learn and explore new cultures and cuisines. This was a promise Kris and Elizabeth made to each other.
As an active Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church parishioner, he was a lector and extraordinary minister and proudly became the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. If you did not see Kris at OLA, you would find him throughout the community serving as a volunteer for the Junior Achievement of Georgia, the Alcohol Review Board for the city of Brookhaven, and on the Boards for both the Brookhaven Farmers Market and the Brookhaven Chambers of Commerce.
Kris wore many titles as a husband, dad, brother, son, uncle, godfather, and friend and was loved and admired by all who knew him. He was gregarious and impressionable, always leaving a piece of himself in people's hearts. His lifetime passion included international travel, attending Braden's school and sporting events, and bringing the community together with Halloween parties, Christmas decorations, and last-minute happy hour gatherings in the Soko driveway. Kris loved to laugh, play practical jokes on his family and friends, and share his cancer journey with anyone who would listen. Did we mention Dad jokes?
Kris lived life to the fullest, from one remarkable adventure to another, always making an impression on everyone he met. Since being diagnosed with cancer, Kris's mission has been to educate and spread the word about colon cancer and how to prevent it by getting colonoscopies early. Kris was interviewed by CNN, The Unsealed, and other media forums (podcasts), thriving to share his cancer journey and helping others understand the importance of paying attention to your health.
The final request from Kris for anyone who would listen is to slow down and open their heart to God. Please remember this when you think of Kris.
