

Jack was born on September 22, 1933 in Hydra, Greece to John Kyriakos Loumakis and Eleni Spilanis Loumakis and grew up in Piraeus, Greece. He came to the United States in 1951 when he was 17 years old. He married Judy Gearhart on May 14, 1961. He owned a printing company, Art Press, with his brother Johnny Loumakis for many years, then made signs later in life until he retired. Jack served in the Air Force for four years, during the Korean war, and received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He also attended Georgia State University.
Jack loved flying and sailing. He owned several airplanes in his life and flew his family on vacations to Jekyll Island, Panama City, the Bahamas, Haiti and New York City, among others. He loved spending time at his vacation home in Panacea, Florida and in Greece, where he recently celebrated his 88th and 90th birthdays.
He was preceded in death by father John Kyriakos Loumakis, mother Eleni Spilanis, step-mother Mary Loumakis, brothers Mike Loumakis, Johnny Loumakis, Nick Loumakis, Costa Karakos, George Karakos and Chris Loumakis, sister-in-law Debbie Loumakis and bonus grandson Kyle Johnson.
Jack is survived by his loving companion of 40 years Elizabeth Ferrell, daughter Sherry Loumakis, son Steve Loumakis (Ruby), grandsons Andrew Loumakis (Emily) and Walt Loumakis, bonus daughter Christine Johnson, bonus sons Wayne Ferrell and Gus Thompson, bonus grandchildren Clayton Johnson, Avery Ferrell and Dustin Ferrell, sisters Barbara McGouirk (Danny) and Katherine Bulcher, brothers Jimmy Karakos, Zack Karakos, Terry Loumakis (Debbie), Angelo Loumakis, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Steve Loumakis, Andrew Loumakis, Walt Loumakis, Wayne Ferrell, Gus Thompson and Steve Karakos.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel at 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30319.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 and 12:00 noon at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 2500 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30329. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, St. Jude’s Research Hospital or Folds of Honor.
