Larry Edwin Stotts died Wednesday November 5, 2014. Larry was born in Zanesville, Ohio, July 10, 1947, to Harold Edwin and Dorothy Stotts. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 then moved to Atlanta where he worked for Delta Air Lines for 33 years in numerous functions, including 25+ years in reservations, where he was well known for tackling complex international rate issues. Larry enjoyed his life and passion for music -- specifically, blues music -- by attending music festivals around the world, serving as a founding member of the Atlanta Blues Society, building relationships with local musicians and collecting thousands of albums which were often enjoyed as friends collected on his front porch in Virginia-Highlands down the street from Blind Willie’s. Larry was a nationally respected Blues Music historian. He dedicated countless hours to literary research and was interviewed by media outlets, including features by NBC and TBS. Larry loved cooking for friends, ever perfecting his red beans and rice and gumbo recipes. He was an avid and loyal Braves, Falcons and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He is survived by his son Eric Edwin Stotts (Kate); two grandchildren, Thomas and Katherine; life partner Lyn Billings; mother Dorothy Stotts Connell; and three sisters, Nancy Mohr (Mike), Diane Haager (Stephan) and Carol McKee (Michael). The funeral will be at 11 o'clock, Sunday, Nov. 16, at H. M. Patterson & Son - Spring Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emory Healthcare, whose doctors and nurses provided exemplary care to Larry.
