Lee Pass Henry passed away on March 9, 2016. Lee was born on June 26, 1936 in Roxboro, NC, to Martha Lee Bass Pass and William Younger Pass. A beloved daughter, sister, Big T, wife, mother, and Gan-Gan, Lee was a Tarheel by birth, graduating from Roxboro High School in 1954 and Meredith College, class of 1958. Her love of music led her to major in piano, and she taught music in Roxboro before marrying George Alexander Henry on May 19, 1961 and moving to Atlanta, her home for the rest of her life. Her life in Atlanta revolved around her family and friends, George's work at Muse's Clothing store, Wieuca Road Baptist Church, and Northwoods and Dresden Elementary Schools where she was a paraprofessional for many years. She worked quietly in the background, leading Girl Scouts, teaching VBS, playing handbells, singing in the choir, answering phones, and serving as a deacon at church, and volunteering in the gift shop at Children's Healthcare Scottish Rite. Lee was never old. She often used her iPad and various other electronics to play games, check email, and post on Facebook. She drove a sporty Mini Cooper. She loved being at her lake house in Hiawassee. She traveled to Mexico, South America, Europe, and much of the United States, and she treasured the memories from those adventures. She enjoyed working with children and college students, and she especially enjoyed attending the many games, concerts, and plays involving her grandchildren. Craft shows were a favorite, where she bought Christmas presents year-round and in recent years volunteered at the Yellow Daisy Festival. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings John Wiley Pass and Marion Jordan Carroll, Lee is survived by her children: Nan Henry Keel (Alan), George Alexander Henry (Tammy), and Marlee Bass Henry, all of Atlanta; and grandchildren Fletcher Henry Keel, Johnsie Elaine Henry, Mason Alexander Keel, George Wiley Henry, and Davis Younger Keel. A graveside service was held on March 12, 2016, and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Wieuca Road Baptist Church at 2:30 pm with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wieuca Road Baptist Church, 3626 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30326 or to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, Attn: Cindy Wesley, 1577 NE Expressway, Atlanta, GA 30329.
