

Leila Hinckley Buccellato, age 62, passed away on February 1, 2015. Leila was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Dayton and her Masters in Special Education from Penn State University. Mrs. Buccellato taught special education classes in Collegeville, Pennsylvania and Cobb County in Georgia. She also was a member of the admissions team at Saint Francis Day School. Leila served on the Board of Saint Francis for many years. As the wife of Headmaster, Drew Buccellato, had a tremendous impact on the growth and success of the school over the past 33 years. She loved working with students at all levels and especially loved supporting the middle and high school athletic teams. Leila’s education background and experience allowed her to promote many innovative and positive developments that benefitted the children of the school. Leila was a member of Northside United Methodist Church and especially enjoyed the wonderful sermons preached by Dr. Gil Watson. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader when her children Emily and Andrew were students at The Westminster Schools. She was always available to volunteer for class trips or help in the library. Leila was a member of Twigs- The Auxiliary for Childrens Health Care. Leila was a founding member and served several terms as captain of the WWB Alta Tennis team, a perennial power in the B Division. Over the years Leila and her sister-in-law, Susan, devoted many hours to the care of their mother-in-law and were tireless in their attention during the last few years of her life. Leila is survived by her father Richard A. Hinckley of New Orleans, her brother Richard A. Hinckley II and his family of Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania, and her sister Mother Telchilde of the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem. In addition she is survived by her husband, of 33 years, Drew; her daughter Emily and son in law Michael Levinsky, and her son Andrew Buccellato. Her brothers-in-law, Dr. Len Buccellato, Ken Spooner, Frank Buccellato, John Buccellato his wife Susan and their daughter and son-in-law Katie and Lane Crouse. The family will receive friends at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill in Brookhaven on Tuesday from 6-8 and on Wednesday from 6-8 PM . Funeral Services to honor the life of Leila Buccellato will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday February 5 at Northside United Methodist Church. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Leila Buccellato Scholarship Fund at Saint Francis Day School 9375 Willeo Road, Roswell, GA 30075.
