Leslie Garnett Armsby

Leslie was born to John and Mary Ann Armsby on January 18, 1948. She graduated from Westminster School in Atlanta as valedictorian of her class. She later graduated from Bryn Mawr college, as well as the Sorbonne in Paris, and the University of Virginia where she earned her PhD in French Literature.

A highly intelligent individual, Leslie held several interesting jobs throughout her life, and had just recently retired. Although she never married, she loved animals and had many parakeets for pets. Her last two parakeets were Daffy and Stella, whom she loved dearly and considered family.

She is survived by her siblings, John W. Armsby, Jr. (Karen), William Holbrook Armsby (Livie), Ann A. Saleeby (David) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her and enjoyed any time they were able to spend with her. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ann.

There are no plans for a funeral at this time. It is the family’s intention to have a remembrance gathering in the near future when more of the family can attend. She will be interred at Westview cemetery in Atlanta in the Matthews family plot.
