Linda McAlister

Born on July 14, 1939, in Columbus, Georgia, a date she proudly reminded everyone was Bastille Day, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse Mark Jackson and Ella Mary Lee Jackson. She was the cherished sister of four brothers: her older brother, Mark, and her younger brothers, Steve, George, and Phillip. The love and devotion her parents showed their children became a defining influence in Linda's own life, shaping the warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment she brought to her family.

Linda attended Auburn University, where she was a proud member of Kappa Delta and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She began her professional life as an English teacher before returning to school to pursue her passion for design, earning a degree in Interior Design. She spent the remainder of her career creating beautiful residential interiors and cultivating lasting friendships with clients and colleagues who admired both her exceptional talent and her gracious spirit.

In 1966, she married her first love, Rodney Ames Westbury, an architect from Charleston, South Carolina. Together, they formed a creative, talented and loving union while raising their two children, Elizabeth and Rodney Jr.

Linda and Rodney shared 29 years of marriage while making homes in Atlanta, Georgia, and Greenville, South Carolina. In 1995, Rodney passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer, leaving Linda widowed until friends intervened.

As fate would have it, her friends introduced Linda to wonderful man, and love found her again. Another Charleston gentleman entered her life in 2000, Dr. Bradwell McAlister, a kind-hearted fellow widower who would become her second great love. They married in 2001 and celebrated 25 wonderful years of marriage in January 2026.

Together, Linda and Brad embraced life with gratitude and adventure. They sailed the British Virgin Islands, skied the slopes of Crested Butte, and enjoyed countless sunset walks along the shores of Hilton Head. Most of all, they treasured time spent with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and many friends, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Bradwell McAlister; her daughter, Elizabeth Westbury Young (Denny); her son, Rodney Westbury Jr (Susan); Brad's sons, Rustin McAlister (Cindy) and Stuart McAlister (Holly); and their extended families: grandchildren Dennis & Jackson Young, Walker, Wyatt & Kiley Westbury, Brooks & Ansley McAlister, Sam, Mary Frances and Hannah McAlister.

Linda will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, creativity, and unwavering belief in the power of love. Her warmth filled every room she entered, and her generous spirit touched countless lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love that continues through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. The lessons she taught through her example, to love deeply, live graciously, and care for others, will remain with her family forever.

Her life was a beautiful testament to love, and her memory will be cherished always.

A mass will held to celebrate her life at Christ the King church in Atlanta Georgia 2699 Peachtree Road, Atlanta GA 30305. September Date and time to be determined.
