Lloyd, 77, was born on May 20, 1940 in Sullivan, Illinois to Volen and Bracie Netherton. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Kays Netherton, his son, Andrew James Netherton, and his sister Creola Kuyrdendall. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jane Kays Netherton. Married on April 8, 1978, Lloyd and Betty were grateful to joyously celebrate 40 truly wonderful and happy years of marriage together.
Lloyd is also survived by his son, Cass Netherton (Laura), his precious grandchildren Ava and Eli, Lloyd’s sisters Thelma Schabowski and Ina Olds (Don). Lloyd was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd grew up in Georgetown, Illinois. He graduated from Eastern Illinois with a degree in Marketing and was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. After college he served for 6 years in the Army and Army Reserves. He went to work for CNA as an underwriter in Chicago. Later he moved New Orleans and became CNA’s youngest chief underwriter, one of his proudest career accomplishments. In 1973, he went to work for Wm. M. Mercer as an account manager in Atlanta. While working at Mercer, he met Betty and was married shortly after. In 1979 Lloyd went to work for Crump Cos. as the Vice President of the Employee Benefits Division and was a member of the Employee Benefits Board. In 1987 he started his own successful consulting/brokerage company, Netherton and Boles, Inc.
Lloyd enjoyed playing golfing at the Atlanta Athletic Club and Sandestin. He enjoyed traveling and cruising all over the world with Betty. His favorite trip was to Israel and Jordan.
He had been attending A Simple Faith Church in Florida and Dunwoody UMC in Georgia.
Family and friends enjoyed Lloyd’s sense of humor and warm welcoming nature. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends, Thursday, April 19 from 5 - 7 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 20 at Dunwoody UMC. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CURE Childhood Cancer to help fight the devastating disease that eventually took the life of his beloved Julie.
