Madge Lewis McNeal

Madge Maurine McNeal, Age 97, of Atlanta, GA passed away on March 7, 2025. Born on August 3, 1927 in Madison County, Alabama, she was the daughter of Clifford and Irene Lewis. Madge graduated Rison High School in Huntsville, AL and then worked at GENESCO and J.C. Penney from which she retired after a long career in retail sales.

Madge’s greatest pleasure was to spend her time challenging her family and friends in both Rummikub and card games and watching the Atlanta Braves! She was an avid shoe lover and loved watching old western movies and television shows. Most importantly, Madge was a devoted Christian and always looked forward to her Saturday devotional with friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs for several years. Madge enjoyed working in her garden during her free time and tending to her flowerbeds.

Madge leaves behind her daughter Janice McNeal, and grandson’s Don (Buff) Buffington III (Mara) and Ed Buffington (Kim) and three great- grandchildren: Nathan, Audra and Will. Her husband William (Bill) McNeal, and brothers Charles and Ray Lewis preceded her in death. The family will hold a memorial service at a future date.
