Marion Janet Barrett, of Dunwoody passed away July 26, 2012. She was born March 25, 1925 in Dorchester (Boston), Massachusetts, the fourth of five children of Joseph William and Lillian (nee Cronin) Donovan. After graduating from the Massachusetts School of Art, she worked as an artist with a chemical company in Boston. She married Richard Barrett of Spokane, WA on August 28, 1948. Richard had graduated in June of that year from MIT. They moved often but finally settled in Dunwoody in 1975. She was an active member of the Dunwoody Women's Club. For many years she did volunteer work with the Dunwoody Stage Door Players where she designed and prepared sets, and did the posters and programs for each play. She was always there when her children needed help. She enjoyed many trips with her husband visiting the National Parks and Monuments and historical sites. Marion was predeceased by her daughter, Christine Louise Barrett. She is survived by her husband; her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Gail, Richard and Sara McCarty, Paul and Catherine; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Stuart Smith; and her sister Claire Gallaher and brother Robert Donovan. She is survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Internment will be in Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs in a private ceremony on August 11. All her friends and friends of family members are invited to attend a gathering to meet with the family at H. M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on August 11 between 2 and 4 PM.
