Marvin John “Wes” Westerfield, of Atlanta died September 14, 2013. Born, July 15, 1923 in Belleville, Illinois and grew up in Detroit and Harbor Springs, Michigan. He entered the US Army cadet program in 1943, graduated and was commissioned in 1944, served for twenty- two years in the USAF and retired in 1966 as a Lt. Col. He then moved, with the family, to Georgia, settled in Dunwoody and went to work at Lockheed in Marietta where he stayed for twenty-two years. He retired in 1988 and enjoyed being able to do more of his favorite thing, playing golf. He also volunteered with Public Citizen and AARP. Wes is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie, three children, Joan Westerfield and husband, Robert Ware, Bend Oregon; John Westerfield and wife, Patricia , Alpharetta; Tony Westerfield, Atlanta; grandchildren, Chandra Dempsey, Moundsville, AL; Graham Blackwood, Atlanta and great-grandchild, John Tyler Dempsey, Moundsville, AL, brother, Thomas Lanctot of Littleton, CO and 7 nieces and 3 nephews. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 26 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
