Mary died peacefully, surrounded in love by her family on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was born in Montgomery Alabama, the daughter of William and Emma Clark. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Roy L. (Brownie) Brown and raised six children. She is predeceased by her husband, her eldest son, Dr. R. Leonard Brown, Jr, and a grandson, Jason Millet Davis. She is survived by her children: W. Clark Brown (Deborah) of Atlanta, Margaret Davis (Bobby) of Duluth Georgia, Lorraine Coleman (Chris) of Hong Kong, Evelyn Brown of Arlington Virginia, and the Reverend Eric Brown of Norcross Georgia, and her grandchildren: Shanna Cosper, Adam Steele, Joshua Steele; Jonathan Davis, Jarrett Davis, Jacob Davis; Sean Coleman and Sarah Coleman, as well as twelve great grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Prior to marriage, Mary was a supervisor for Southern Bell in Montgomery. After raising her six children she worked at Scientific Products as a secretary, then as a secretary for Briar Vista Elementary School in DeKalb County Georgia, from 1973 until she retired in 1989.
Her ministry life was full, as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and extraordinary Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church of Atlanta. After her installation into the Missionary Cenacle Apostolate, she developed the ministry to the Sick, Dying and Bereaved at OLA in the mid 1980s. After earning a theological certificate from Loyola University via a distance learning program through the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Mary completed five units of Clinical Pastoral Education. She then served at various hospitals and hospices in Atlanta before moving to Panama City Beach Florida. In Panama City Mary continued her ministry at Bay County Hospital, Bay County Medical and Gulf Coast Medical Center. She also started bereavement ministries at St. John's and St. Bernadette's parishes. Mary returned to Atlanta to be near her family in 2012.
