

Mary Evans Comstock passed away peacefully Wednesday July 20th. She was born in Hazel Green, Alabama, but has lived the last 59 years in Atlanta. Mary attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee. During World War II, she worked for the Secretary of the Navy in Washington, D.C. She later moved to New York and became a hostess for Capitol Airlines. In 1949, while living in New Orleans, she married Don Comstock in a wedding that was broadcast on ABC Radio's "Bride and Groom." Once she moved to Atlanta, Mary became active with the Women’s League of Voters and enjoyed doing research on international topics for the organization.
Mary was a master gardener and an avid and excellent golfer at Ansley Golf Club and Capital City Club. She supported the Atlanta Symphony, the Alliance Theatre, and the High Museum, and was an active member of Philosophy Club, Alabama Club, and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Mary is survived by her daughter Carol Frances Comstock, her sister Carolyn Evans Eberts, her brother Bill Evans, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, Monday, July 26th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM Tuesday July 26th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, Visiting Nurses Hospice Atlanta, or a charity of your choice.
