
Mary Grace McCurry Garrett, 76, of 150 Huntcliff Point, Atlanta, GA 30350 died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Halcyon Hospice Home in Atlanta. Born in Toccoa, GA, she was the daughter if the late Carl and Cora McCurry. Mary Grace graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1958 and taught in Toccoa public schools for 2 years. The family moved to Atlanta in 1969, where Mary Grace became involved in other businesses along with being a housewife, mother and active volunteer for church, school and community projects. She owned a limousine company, and later worked for a large arts and crafts company in Atlanta. She also worked in her husband’s soft drink business, and later with him in his insurance and financial planning company. Mary Grace has been a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for 27 years. She served on the Wedding Guild, and was a member of the Disciples Circle and Thursday Women’s Bible Study Class. She was a member of the National Tole Painter’s Society and the Atlanta Music Guild, and was an accomplished musician who played the piano, organ, and marimba. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary Grace was predeceased by her son, Gregory Carl Garrett, and is survived by her husband, Joel McCall ( Mack ) Garrett, daughter, Miriam Elaine Garrett, son-in-law, Michael Ralph Stacio, Jr. , granddaughter, Kathryn-Grace Garrett Stacio, and several cousins.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at Peachtree Presbyterian Church Kellett Chapel. Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill. Graveside services will be held at the Toccoa City Cemetery at 3:00 pm, Saturday afternoon. If desired, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
