

Mary Claudette Tench of Atlanta, born in 1937 passed away on June 20, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Lee Tench, whom she was happily married to for 56 years, son Brad Tench, daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Latham Tench and John Latham. Claudette Tench was a devoted wife and mother. She graduated from high school with honors, excelled in acting and was a member of the International Thespian Society. Claudette Tench spent many days riding her horse on the beach in Cuba which she dearly loved. Claudette Tench was also a debutante and made her formal presentation in Cuba. She was fluent in Spanish. Upon returning to the United States, Claudette attended the University of Florida where she studied English and Latin. Claudette moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she attended finishing school and met her husband, Lee Tench. She owned a modeling agency, managed an office for a group of doctors and worked as an agent for several real estate agencies. Claudette Tench will mostly be remembered for her love of ballet, classical music and travel. Ballet was her true passion and Swan Lake was her favorite ballet. Claudette had a beautiful voice and smile and gave her heart and love to others foremost. She spent many years attending the Atlanta Ballet performances. Claudette Tench traveled to New York to see performances by the American Ballet Theatre and to Paris to see the Paris Opera Ballet. One of her favorite ballet memories was watching Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyer perform at the Fox Theatre. Family members intend to set up a dance scholarship with the Atlanta Ballet in her memory. She lived six years after breast cancer, then a year and half after with bone cancer, Claudette fought bravely thereafter till she was called to be with The Lord. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27th at 2 o’clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel officiated by Dr. Bill Self, friend of the family.
