

Mavis Ravenscroft Cahoon, 92, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1933, in Manchester, England, and moved to the United States at the age of 18, where she built a life defined by resilience, creativity, and dedication to her family.
Mavis became well known in the Atlanta interior design community as a partner in the Jerry Pair and Associates showroom and later as president of Jim Thompson America fabric company. Her leadership, love for fashion and design, and warm personality left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
After a long and successful career, Mavis embraced her love of dance, becoming a competitive ballroom dancer in her retirement years. She also loved to travel, read, and host family gatherings.
Mavis is preceded in death by her youngest son Adam Bradburn Cahoon, her siblings Marion Parker, Allan Ravenscroft, and Beryl Smith. She is survived by her sons Roger (Tina) and Daniel (Charlotte); grandchildren Michael, Thomas, and Kathryn; and great-granddaughters Hazel and Nora.
Her family and friends will remember her as a gracious host, a loving mother and grandmother, and a woman of elegance, energy, and compassion.
A gathering to honor Mavis will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30319, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, all at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mavis's name.
