Nathalia lived an impressive 93+ years and led an incredibly blessed life. She was born in Adel, Georgia on November 10, 1931 to Alpheus Whittier and Wanita (Lindsey) Vittum. Her mother passed at the age of 28 tuberculosis leading her to live with family in Savannah for a few years. Nathalia returned to Adel and attended Adel Grammar and High School completing all grades by the age of 16. Off to Atlanta and attending Grady Nursing School shortly thereafter, she was the youngest graduate of the nursing school in the State of Georgia at the age of 19 in 1951 and for many years to come. She fell in love with and married B. Waldo (“Buck”) Moore on October 8, 1952. Buck and Nathalia lived in Atlanta in student housing while he completed his specialty in cardiology at Emory Medical School and then moved to New Haven, CT for the completion of his final two years of residency at Yale in 1953.
Nathalia and Buck relocated to Atlanta buying their first home in Leafmore Hills in Decatur and eventually building their dream home in Buckhead – of Georgian design by James Means. Nathalia had many interests including gardening, sewing, much volunteer work, travel (especially to New York, England and Italy) and gourmet cooking. She and Buck discovered together a love of art and antiques which became a lifelong hobby for both. They were also long-standing members of Capital City Club in Atlanta starting in 1956. Nathalia was truly blessed to live a long, full and beautiful life.
She is predeceased by her husband B. Waldo Moore Jr., sister Joanne Vittum (1984) and survived by her daughter Alison Moore Kelly and son-in-law John Richard Kelly.
