
Ned Harris Kemlein passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011. He was born in Tampa, Florida November 5, 1918. He grew up and was educated in South Florida. In the early days of World War II Ned joined the Army and received his commission as an Artillery Officer at the Artillery School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He went overseas to Europe on the Queen Elizabeth to replace early casualties, landing in the invasion on D-Day plus 6. He joined the 2nd Infantry Division as an Artillery Forward Observer. He was wounded in Brest, France and later received the Bronze Star for Gallants in action. Mr. Kemlein was honorably discharged from the Army as a Captain. Ned spent his entire working career in the paint business. He moved to Atlanta in 1950 where he met his wife. Ned helped found Sanders Paints in Tucker, Georgia where he spent many years. He became president and CEO and later Sara Lee Corporation acquired the company. He retired in 1982. Ned is of strong character with very high morals and was a long time member of Grace Methodist Church. Among other things Ned was a very good artist with great talent painting with oils and he always belonged to the High Museum of Art. Mr. Kemlein is survived by his wife, Ruth Kemlein; sister, Margie K. Hunt; sons, Ron Beavers and Chris H. Kemlein; daughter, Peggy Morehouse; grandchildren, Brandy Beavers Dunaway, Casey Beavers, Brandt Morehouse, Chris Morehouse, Rachel Kemlein and Zac Kemlein. Also one great grandson, Kaemon Dunaway. Funeral Services for Mr. Kemlein will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 2PM in the H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
