Patricia Fitzhugh “Pat” Plomgren passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 12, 1950. Pat graduated from Northside High School in 1968 and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Georgia where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
Pat was a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful friend. Married to Ted for 53 years, she loved her family and was so proud of her two children and especially her four grandchildren. She was a wonderful friend to many and poured her heart into countless volunteer opportunities.
A woman of deep faith, Pat was an active and cherished member of her church community, St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, for her entire life. She found particular joy in serving on the Flower Guild, where her creativity and dedication helped bring beauty and meaning to worship services and special occasions. Her contributions reflected both her artistic gifts and her desire to serve others. She was involved at St. Anne’s in so many ways – in addition to the Flower Guild, she was also elected by the church body to serve on The Vestry, was teacher at St. Anne’s Day School, and served on the Board of St. Anne’s Terrace for many years.
Pat was also a remarkably talented gardener. She had a special gift for cultivating beauty wherever she went, transforming ordinary spaces into vibrant gardens filled with color and life. She proudly served as the chair of the Southeastern Flower Show and Co-Chair for the Atlanta Botanical Garden “Gardens for Connoisseurs” Tour for several years. Pat and Ted’s flowers, plants, and landscapes were admired by all who knew them, but those closest to her understood that her gardens were an extension of who she was—patient, nurturing, generous, and full of grace.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith, her kindness, her generosity, her love of family, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the values she instilled in those she loved most.
Pat is survived by her husband, Ted Plomgren; her children, Scott (and Courtney) Plomgren of Atlanta and Katie (and Nate) Lavelle of Montgomery, AL; and grandchildren Virginia and Hugh Lavelle and Lanier and Fitz Plomgren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Margaret Richardson and Dr. Francis Wilbur “Fitz” Fitzhugh, Jr., MD
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind and in the knowledge that her love will continue to guide us. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 2:00 PM at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, reflecting the community she loved so dearly.
