Patricia “Pattie” Wendler was born on November 15, 1930, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, to the late Mary Angela “Maidie” Behen and Thomas Bernard Bradley. From an early age, Pattie’s life reflected a sense of adventure and adaptability, as her family lived in several places across the United States during her childhood.
In her teenage years, the family settled in Utica, New York, where Pattie trained and worked as a dental hygienist. On November 22, 1956, she married the love of her life, John P. Wendler, in Utica. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. They made their home in Northport on Long Island, where they raised their four children—John, Bradley, Gretchen, and Paul—before later returning to upstate New York in New Hartford.
Following their retirement, Pattie and John moved to Southport, North Carolina. After John’s passing in 2008, Pattie relocated in 2010 to Lenbrook Community in Atlanta, Georgia. There, she thrived in a vibrant community and cherished being close to her son Paul, his late wife June Wendler, and her beloved grandchildren, Aidan and Lily. Pattie also became an active and devoted member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church of Atlanta.
Wherever Pattie went, she formed lasting connections. She had an extraordinary gift for remembering names, a warm and infectious laugh, and an indomitable spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her clear blue eyes and genuine warmth “had you at hello.” In her later years, Pattie traveled extensively, embracing the world with boundless energy and curiosity. Her journeys included Medjugorje, Egypt, Ireland, England, and Alaska—just a few of the many places she explored with enthusiasm and joy.
Pattie was predeceased by her beloved husband, John P. Wendler; her brother, Dr. Thomas Bradley; and her cherished daughter-in-law, June (née Donnelly) Wendler.
She is survived by her devoted children and their families:
John Peter Wendler, his wife Robin, and granddaughter Victoria Wendler of Stow, Massachusetts; Bradley Wendler, his wife Sharon, and grandsons Matthew, Patrick (his wife Gabriela Constantin Dureci), and Jeffrey (his wife Amanda), all of Morris County, New Jersey; Paul Wendler, and grandchildren Aidan and Lily of Buckhead, Atlanta; Gretchen Cormier, her husband James Cormier, granddaughter Kayla (her husband Ray Boone), and great-grandchildren Elijah, Naomi, and Xavier Boone of North Carolina; and grandson Cullen (his wife Nyssa) and great-grandchildren Russell, Vincent, and Graham of Gardner, Massachusetts.
