

Paul was born in Watertown, Wisconsin to Edlore J. and Gertrude (Klecker) LaFreniere on January 27, 1935. He attended Bishop Baraga High School in Marquette, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Accounting. Paul was a retired partner with Ernst & Young. He served as mayor of Marquette and participated in Rotary Club, the Boy Scouts, St. Vincent de Paul, and Opus Dei. He also served as a board member for the Dominican Sisters of Nashville.
Paul was preceded in death by wives, Patricia Shanley LaFreniere and Margaret Espinda LaFreniere.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Broniec LaFreniere and his children: James LaFreniere of Nashville, Tennessee, Joseph LaFreniere of Overland Park, Kansas, Thomas LaFreniere of Atlanta, Georgia, John LaFreniere of Knoxville, Tennessee, Daniel LaFreniere of Columbia, South Carolina, and Andrea Miciano of New Braunfels, Texas. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill in Brookhaven, from 6 to 8 PM.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Georgia on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11 AM. Rev. Neil Herlihy will officiate. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Sandy Springs. H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill assisted the family with arrangements.
