Pete Meador Ebersole, 86, died February 27, 2011. He was a 4th generation Atlantan. He graduated from Darlington School and UNC Chapel Hill where he was a member of KA Fraternity. He was associated with Lockheed GA for 35 years and was past president of the Atlanta chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He served with the US Army Air Corp during WWII as a B-17 pilot flying 23 missions over Europe. He was a member of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church as well as the Woodworkers Guild of Georgia, the 8th Air Force Historical Society, the Silver Wings fraternity and the order of Daedalians. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Anne Dungan Ebersole, his children and their spouses, Carol and Tom Rusk, Diane and Mike Collins, Marc and Kelly Ebersole all of Atlanta, Pete Jr. and Maria Ebersole of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, grandchildren, Kelly Rusk Smith, Scott Rusk, Charlie Collins and Emily Collins, Jake Ebersole, Brett Ebersole, Wil Ebersole. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 2nd at 4 o’clock at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church with a reception following the service. Donations may be made to the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, P.O. Box 1992, Savannah, Georgia, 31402 or to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 4 to 6 o’clock at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30319.
