Phil, Hoyt Robinson and I opened a deer season just off the road leading from Suches to Frying Pan Gap. We pitched a lean-to and had a good fire going. It produced enough light for us to enjoy playing poker but we stayed with it long enough to sleep past daylight on opening day. We were awakened by shots fired near us. Shortly after the shots a hunter wearing LL Bean clothes came stumbling down off the mountain with his pistol unholstered and he wanted to know if we had seen anything. We said “no”. After he was out of earshot I believe it was Phil who commented the hunter reminded him of Dick Tracy the way he was dressed. I really enjoyed knowing Phil.

Phil was a cousin by marriage. I remember him when I was a little girl and he was also so kind to me. I know he will be missed in this family, he was a dear man. Our prayers for Doris and the rest of the family.

My sincere sympathies to this wonderful family. My dad worked for Folgers for many years and Mr Folger was highly respected gentleman in our household. Prayers for peace and comfort.
