Ms. Rebecca Lynn Breedlove, 66, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Rebecca Breedlove was born October 28, 1949 in Toccoa, Georgia. She was predeceased by her parents, the late James C. Breedlove and Fay Agnew Breedlove. Survivors include Rebecca’s long-time companion Fred Dean, two brothers; James (Anne) Breedlove of Atlanta, and David (Vickie) Breedlove of Jacksonville, FL; a niece, Jennifer Breedlove of Asheville, NC; a nephew, Matt (Victoria) Breedlove of Jacksonville, FL; and one great-nephew, James Dalton Breedlove. Ms. Breedlove was a 1967 graduate of Athens High School and attended Young Harris College prior to graduating from the University of Georgia in 1972. As a gifted elementary school teacher, Rebecca guided many young students at Colbert, GA Elementary School and Murdock Elementary in Marietta, GA. In 1978, Rebecca began a new career in the sales and marketing profession with Permacel Division of Johnson & Johnson Corporation, followed by more than 20 years with Southern Bell/BellSouth/AT&T. In 2005 Rebecca returned to teaching full-time with First Response Safety Training, where she taught CPR, First Aid and Fire Safety as well as Child Care and Elder Care to thousands of professionals in the education, business and child care/elder care fields. Ms. Breedlove was a devout Christian and was a very active member and volunteer at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Serving the church in many ways, Rebecca was an Elder and served on the Session for multiple terms as well as the Nominating Committee. She was also a member of the Evangelism Committee and served as a Stephen Minister. Rebecca was instrumental in starting Peachtree Presbyterian’s Cancer Support Group and enjoyed many years as a member of the Women’s Community Bible Study. She was most passionate in her involvement as a member of the executive and selection committees of the Bill Maness Scholarship Fund to assist underprivileged students. Rebecca’s other passions were her love for her family and wide circle of friends as well as her beloved Georgia Bulldogs. She enjoyed Georgia Bulldog football games from many vantage points over the years: the old railroad track outside the stadium in the 60s, the comfort of Section 130, Row 58 on many glorious Saturday afternoons, and finally from the lofty heights of the New Orleans Superdome or Atlanta’s Georgia Dome for championship and bowl games. It is no surprise that Rebecca’s favorite cat was named “Munson.” Rebecca was generous beyond measure with her time, talents, love and friendship. She has touched many thousands of lives in a most positive way and will be remembered always as a favorite sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, teacher, and friend. Ms. Breedlove’s family will receive friends and family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26 at the H. M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel at 4550 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27 in the sanctuary of Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Road, Atlanta. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peachtree Presbyterian Church Bill Maness Scholarship Fund for underprivileged youth.
