

Mrs. Rebecca Susan Foltz Dodd, age 69, died at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from a sudden illness. Born May 11, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia, her family eventually relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. She studied at Georgia State University where she met and married her husband, Rev. Walter Avery Dodd, and graduated with a Masters in History. After teaching and writing the official history of East Point, Ga, she traveled the world as a Navy Chaplin’s wife. Always the belle of the navy ball, she was renowned for her beauty, her loving personality and her constant care for those around her. She later worked as a Tax Examiner for the IRS before suffering an injury in a car accident. She lived the last years of her life in the loving care of her husband and children. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Walter Avery Dodd, her daughters, Marianne Silverboard and Heather Nadine Deschene and her son James Dodd. Her siblings Bruce Foltz, John Raymond Foltz, David Foltz, Mary Overby, Victoria Russo and Christine Clark. Visitation will be at 11am and services will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 26, at Northwoods United Methodist Church, 2635 Fairlane Drive, Doraville GA 30340. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception immediately following, from 1 to 3p.m. Burial will follow immediately afterward. Flowers are welcome and should be sent to H.M.
