Richard Zeitler passed away on July 29, 2013, after a brief illness. Dick was born on March 18, 1940, in New York City, graduated from Lawrence Woodmere Academy in 1957, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College in 1961. Following college, he was signed by the New York Mets organization and pitched in the minor leagues in Raleigh, NC and Quincy, IL. He left baseball in 1963 and worked as an executive in the cosmetics industry and law firm administration before his retirement in 2007. He was predeceased by his parents David Zeitler and Sally Arbitman Zeitler. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, the former Mary Ansley Spratlin, his children, Jonathan Zeitler, Jennifer Clayman, and Jane Belli, his stepson David Bennett, ten grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 18 years old, and his sister Karen Russell.
