Robert “Bob” Wayne Stephens, 70, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. Bob was born in Atlanta on April 22, 1946 to Mary Pyron and Patrick Dawson Stephens. He is predeceased by his father and mother; brother, Patrick Douglas (Sandra) Stephens. He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Patrick) Lloyd; brother, Harry Pyron (Patricia) Stephens; sister, Mary Anne (Roger) Landers; four nephews: Scott Stephens, Sloan Stephens, Jack Stephens, Kyle Landers; three nieces: Shelly Stephens Anderson, Susan Stephens Wietsma, and Jennifer Landers.
Bob is a lifelong resident of Atlanta. He graduated from Brown High School where he was a star athlete and Student Body President. He attended Belmont University on a basketball scholarship and graduated from University of Georgia with a B.A. in Business. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 2012, Bob retired from Datamatx where he worked as a Facilities Manager for 20 years.
Bob had a passion for life and adventure. Bob enjoyed jogging and ran the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race for over 30 years and was a volunteer in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He had several long time dog companions: Bandit and Porsha. He had a sweet spirit and dearly loved his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 17, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Patterson’s Spring Hill Chapel, with the family receiving friends at 1 o’clock. A reception will be held immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society.
