

Bob spent his early years in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, followed by both a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Yale University. He began his academic career teaching economics at Macalester College and, in 1989, joined the faculty of Beloit College, where he remained for 36 years. During his tenure at Beloit, Bob demonstrated an unwavering commitment to teaching and mentorship, educating thousands of students. He was particularly known for his instruction and expertise in sports economics and sports analytics, subjects for which he held a deep and enduring enthusiasm.
Bob’s contributions to the Beloit College community, as well as to his colleagues and students, were significant and lasting. He will be greatly missed by students, faculty, friends, and family alike.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beloit College.
