Bob Goodsell, age 92, passed away peacefully with family present in his home on Sunday, June 7th, 2026. He was born on November 24th, 1933, in Burlington, Vermont, grew up in Florence, Alabama, and lived most of his adult life in Atlanta, Georgia.
During high school, he was the business manager of the school yearbook and served as the Synod President of the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship. Upon graduating from Coffee High School in 1952, he attended the University of Alabama. As a student, he was elected to “Who’s Who in American Colleges & Universities,” served as business manager of the yearbook, and was president of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. After graduating with a BS degree, he then served in the U.S. Army as a cryptographer at Far East Army Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. While there, he co-founded a venture to introduce American-style popcorn to the Japanese market, which led to his running a concessions supply company in Atlanta.
After the sale of this business, he founded a residential building company specializing in high-quality homes and small single-family developments in North Atlanta. For over 55 years, Bob was president of Goodsell Associates, Inc. (formerly Goodsell Construction Company), which has been recognized by a number of national and regional publications and received numerous awards for innovative and quality construction.
Aside from the building business, Bob was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, served as a director of Riverside Bank, and was actively involved with issues to better his surrounding community. He enjoyed leisure time traveling (many times by cruise ship) with his beloved wife, Connie, and relaxing at their farm and lake properties in Northeast Georgia.
Bob will be remembered for his kind and outgoing personality. His sacrifice for others, warm smile, and integrity left a lasting impression on his family, friends, and others he encountered over the years.
He is predeceased in death by his parents Dean and Beryl Goodsell, his brother Dean Goodsell of Florence, AL, his first wife of 19 years, Ann DuPree Sellars of Greensboro, N.C., and stepson Kib Browning of Atlanta.
Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie Grant Goodsell, his sons Rob (Heather) Goodsell, Alex (Amy) Goodsell, stepdaughter Constance Browning, brother Richard B. (Anne) Goodsell, Sr., and grandchildren Jordan Williamson, Ross Williamson, Ann-DuPree Goodsell, Amelia Goodsell, Bailey Goodsell, Chloe Goodsell, Annie (Bradley) McGlothin, Hallie (Sam) Daspit, and Meg Goodsell.
A celebration of life service will take place at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on June 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Evangel Presbyterian Church in Alabaster, AL, or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta, GA.
