Robert Young Halford

Robert Young Halford, 82, of Chamblee, GA, passed away on Saturday, September 16th, 2017. Robert was born on January 25, 1935 in Batesville, SC to James Dorman Halford and Mary Jaudon Halford. He was one of six children.

Robert was raised in Columbia, SC where he attended high school and graduated from Furman University. He was also an ordained minister degreed from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He was a member of Chamblee Baptist Church and later of John’s Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Becky Halford of Atlanta, GA; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Julia Halford, Lawrenceville, GA; two grandsons, Kyle (Megan) Halford, Lawrenceville, GA and Trevor Halford, Athens, GA; sister, Marian Barksdale of Six Mile, SC; brother, Jake Halford of Santee, SC and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents; oldest brother, J.D. Halford (Rosie) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; sister, Virginia Collins (John) of Lugoff, SC; brother, Jack Halford of Marietta, Ga and Hartwell, SC and his cherished family poodle “Sweetie” Halford.

The children of Robert Halford extend heartfelt love and gratitude to the staff and team of the Delmar Gardens Nursing Home, Gwinnett family. Mr. Halford was a long-time resident and called Delmar Gardens his home. The care and love he received will never be forgotten.

Memorial Services will be held at H.M. Patterson Funeral Home Spring Hill, 1020 Spring Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309 on Friday, October 6th at 11:00AM with a reception to follow.
