A 1971 graduate from Lanier High School in Macon, GA, Roger completed his undergraduate from Georgia College, Milledgeville in 1975. Moving to Atlanta in 1980, Roger set out on a career in Information Technology that spanned perhaps the most dynamic three decades any industry has ever experienced. He concluded his career as a Cyber Security manager for the Centers for Disease Control.
Roger loved ice cream, the outdoors, and books. The consummate book worm, Roger could oft be found buried in a book about Astronauts, World War 2, or theology. However, he most enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Across the years, Roger remained extremely close to his large extended Macon, GA family. He enjoyed time with family in his home, their homes, and at the family cabin at Lake Burton. That being said, there was no one more important to Roger than his beloved Susan.
If you were searching out a picture of a doting husband, you could find it in Roger. For nearly 33 years, Roger and Susan could be found serving one another and anyone that came near. This picture of selfless service grew out of a deeply rooted faith in Jesus Christ and years of service to the body of Christ, serving at Chapel Woods Presbyterian, InTown Community Church, and ChristChurch Atlanta (PCA) across more than three decades. Roger cherished his church family, particularly the mutually encouraging relationships with the men of the church.
A beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, husband, and father, Roger will be missed by many.
Roger was preceded in death by parents, Roger Mills Hunter, Sr. and Jean MacMillan Hunter and his beloved Marjorie and Joe Hall.
Roger is survived by sisters Barbara Hunter Moore (Tom), Judy Hall Kornegay (Garry), Susan Hall Millwood (Don), brother Billy Hall (Carolyn), niece Sue Moore Abele (Matt), nephew Thomas Johnson Moore (Eve) and great nieces Carlisle Abele Wheeler (Jake), Mary Katharine Abele Bryant (Hogan) and Emma Ann Abele. He also leaves behind many adoring friends and family members including Sarah Wilson (Billy), Amanda Crosby (Adam), Tina Stroud (Marty), Julia Tarrant (Wayne), Susan and Chip Evans, and a host of Godchildren.
