Ronald Fred Montgomery

Ronald “Ronnie” Montgomery passed peacefully March 4th. Ronnie was born December 3, 1950 in Charlotte N.C. but soon moved to Atlanta. Ronnie grew up in Little Five Points in the Inman Park area and attended Bass High School. After moving to Doraville, he graduated from Sequoyah H.S. in 1968. Ronnie held numerous positions during his career but is best remembered as the entrepreneur and leader of the Montgomery Brothers Band in the 1970’s. The Montgomery Brothers were the first Rock ‘n Roll band hired at Six Flags Over Georgia, during the summer of 1976 and 1977. They developed a loyal following and appeared in numerous publications. Ronnie later turned his energy to building his own business evolving into Ron Montgomery and Associates - The Event Company. He traveled the world producing events for Fortune 500 companies with executives, government leaders, and a virtual “who’s who” of the entertainment industry. He was a member of The Audio Engineering Society and a thirty five plus year member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Ronnie was an active advocate of pet rescue. Over the years he took in numerous abandoned dogs giving them a new life. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Cecilia “C.O.” Montgomery and his brother Robert Montgomery. He is survived by the love of his life for the past 44 years Susan Gibson; brothers, Steve Montgomery, Gary Montgomery, and his wife Alice, Richard Montgomery, wife Cindy; Sister Marie Newton and husband Blaine. In addition he is survived by nephews, Nick and Travis Montgomery; nieces, Tonya Estes and Selena Dowell; aunt, Barbara and her husband Carl Dowell, aunt, Marian Whitehead; uncle, John Jennings and numerous cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 am at H.M. Patterson &Son Oglethorpe Hill, followed by interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any animal rescue organization or your favorite charity.
