Ruth Limbert Griscom Adams, age 88, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014. Ruth was born in Atlanta, GA on Nov. 2, 1925. She was a 1942 graduate of Druid Hills High School and went on to earn her BA from Agnes Scott College in 1946. Formerly a member of the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Junior Guild, The Cotillion Club, Phi-Mu Sorority, and the 1944-45 Atlanta Debutante Club. She was a volunteer “Pink Lady” at Piedmont Hospital, American Cancer Society and “meals on wheels.” Ruth was a member of Ansley Golf Club, Capital City Club, and First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid tennis player, a swimmer, and later learned to play Golf; scoring a hole in one. She was by all accounts a fabulous dancer! Ruth was a wonderful wife and mother and later a business partner in Jane Marsden Antiques & Interiors where she remained active until her retirement. She loved traveling to Europe to look for antiques for clients and especially loved Blue & White Porcelain which she continued to collect throughout her life. Ruth is predeceased by her husband of 30 years; William Carden Griscom and later Richard D. Adams, her parents Don & Helen Limbert of Atlanta, and sister Donna Limbert Dunbar and brother-in-law George Dunbar of Atlanta & St. Simons. Surviving family members include her children; William C. Griscom of Atlanta, Donald A. Griscom of Jacksonville, FL, and Thomas A Griscom of Atlanta, Daughters-in-law; Jennifer N. Griscom of Atlanta, Nancy M. Griscom of Jacksonville, FL, and seven grandchildren; Will Griscom, Carden Griscom, Caleb Griscom, Peter Griscom Katie Griscom, Jennifer Griscom Smith, and Matthew Griscom. The Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 5, at 2 o’clock at Patterson's - Spring Hill with Dr. Paul Gardner of Christ Church Presbyterian officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery at 12 o’clock.
