

Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Sandra Bennett McNeil went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2026. After a fulfilled life of 101 years, Sandra left behind her family and countless friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, John C. McNeil, parents: Asa and Leila Ramsey Bennett, brothers: Herbert Bennett, Arnold Bennett, Osee V. Bennett, sisters: Bernice Bennett, Pirena Bennett Francis, and nephews: Dr. Sanford Bennett, Marietta, Georgia, Dr. Paul Bennett, White Sulphur, Texas, and great nephew: Tim Holcomb, Sandy, Utah, Surviving Sandra are nieces Charlotte Bachler (Mike), (Athens, GA), Vaunda B. Holcomb (Fred), (Naples, Fl., & Sandy, Utah), Carolyn B. Severson (Steve), (Champion, MI), Cathryn B. Smith (James Carroll), (Gainesville, GA. Other close relatives include great nieces and great nephews including Sean Holcomb, Stacy Holcomb, Melissa B. Marin, Tauna B. Tucker, Lisa Bennett, Nathan Bennett, Bennett Smith, Burns Severson IV, David Bachler, Don Bachler, Susan B. Bittner, Jonathan Bennett, and many others.
Sandra’s education included graduation from Air LIne High School in Gainesville, Georgia. She continued her postgraduate studies attending the Felt & Tarrant Comptometer School which taught professional accounting, arithmetic, and corporate office skills, and she continued her studies at Georgia State University and Emory University. Sandra always prepared herself for the next step in her career path so that she would be successful.
Her professional career was distinguished by working for Avon Products as Collections Manager, as well as Kraft Foods Inc. in accounting overseeing their payroll division for several states in their Sealtest Division.
Sandra was respected in her professional and civic endeavors. Her involvement included being Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, serving as their treasurer for ten years. She served as Royal Matron of the order of the Amaranth. She continued attending meetings at 95 years old.
As a member of the American Business Woman’s Association, Sandra served as president of her Chapter three times and was tapped as Woman of the Year twice. In 1991, Sandra was chairperson of the Organization’s 31 chapters in Atlanta. She truly enjoyed meeting and encouraging young professional women to join and participate in ABWA.
Other leadership roles included President of the North Side Woman’s Club, Metro Atlanta Better Films Council, the Atlanta Woman’s Club where she served as Treasurer, and was a member since June, 1994, and the Cherokee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sandra knew the importance of supporting a balanced budget and responsible leadership to meet growing community needs. She has been a role model to her family and friends.
As a member of Second Ponce DeLeon Baptist Church, Sandra has served as President of her Sunday school class. She enjoyed attending regularly, rarely missing a Sunday until the Pandemic closures when she attended by viewing television broadcasts. After the restrictions were lifted, she attended services with Julia Tucker, her great-great niece. Attending worship services was always a source of strength and guidance.
The many friends Sandra made have been her inspiration for a remarkable life. Throughout her life friends adopted Sandra as a family member. She felt truly blessed to be surrounded by such caring and loving individuals. We-family and friends were blessed to have her in our lives .
Visitation will be held at H. M. Patterson & Sons- Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road N. E., Atlanta, GA 30319 on June 27th from 10 -11 a. m., Services from 11 a. m. to 12 noon.
Graveside services will be held at Air Line Baptist Church Cemetery, 3368 White Sulphur Road, Gainesville, Ga 30501 at 2:30 p. m.
