Susan Britney Barge

August 15, 1978May 8, 2018

Susan Britney Barge was called home by the Lord on May 8, 2018. Born August 15, 1978, she was the cherished daughter of Olivia and John Barge. Britney was also the proud big sister of her brother Brooks, whom she called “Pooks,” while he lovingly called her “Bopper”. Britney loved spending time with her three precious nephews Patrick, Hunter, and Whitfield Barge and just this past Friday had a great time with Patrick, talking together throughout a home movie. Fiercely loyal, she always reminded her friends and family of how much she loved them. Britney never met a stranger and always reached out to help those in need. An adventurous spirit, she loved the outdoors and travel, especially treasuring a memorable climb to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro followed by a safari with her family.

Britney loved annual reunions with her many cousins as well as great family times at Lake Rabun that she shared with her extended family, including her beloved grandparents. Britney attended The Westminster Schools and Woodward Academy, and graduated from Antioch University. Music, dance, and sports, especially soccer, were favored pursuits which she played from elementary school through high school. Britney gained strength and peace through her faith, having grown up at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her parents, Olivia and John Barge; brother Brooks (Libby) Barge; nephews Patrick, Hunter and Whitfield Barge; uncles and aunts, Thu Barge, Kelly (Anne) Barge, Betsy (Roger) Birkholz, Dean Turner, Cindy (Jim) Cantrell and Kay (Bill) Bruski; and many cousins.

Britney was predeceased by her grandparents, Betty and Alvin Barge, and Quilla and Dewel Lake, and her uncle Al Barge.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Peachtree Road United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow in Grace Fellowship Hall.

Britney was a kind, caring, fun, friendly, approachable, smart, deep soul and I was very fortunate to have been her friend, although briefly. I am praying she is in God's embrace and will one day see her and hang out together again. God bless you Britney.
