

A devoted member of University Baptist Church for over 70 years, Thelma was also a proud graduate of Chamblee High School. She lived a life full of kindness, generosity, and dedication to her faith and family. Thelma was known for her warm heart and welcoming spirit, and she cherished the relationships she built over the years. Her strong faith, love for family, and commitment to her community were at the core of who she was.
She was preceded in death by her father, James E. Britt; her mother, Mamie Chandler Britt; her brothers, Dorsey Britt and Hunter Britt; and her sister, Geraldine Britt Purcell.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Sandra C. Harris; her sons, John Gary Cauthen (Cathy) and Charles Thomas Haynes; her step-son, Roy Haynes; her granddaughters, Sandra Harris Darby and Stacey D. Harris; her grandsons, Kevin C. Harris, Patrick T.S. Harris, John T. Cauthen, Brian T. Cauthen, Charles T. Franssen, Linden Haynes and Logan Haynes; along with multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service for Thelma will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319. A committal service will follow immediately after at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 4278 Chamblee Tucker Rd, Doraville, GA 30340.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone who has shown love and support during this time of loss. The memories of Thelma's grace, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
