For anyone that happens to view this website, we wanted to be sure to let you know.  We are having a Memorial Service for Vail Parsons on Wednesday, June 23rd at 2pm.  For any family or friend of Vail's that can attend, we would love to have you join us for her Celebration of Life.  It will be at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Shoreview, Minnesota.

I graduated with Vail in the nursing program at Gustavus.  Our last two years of college we lived in the nursing dorm at Bethesda Hospital and became very close friends.  I am so sorry to learn of her death and hoping her children and others are traveling safely on their grieving journey.  So many stories I could tell of the wonderful times we had.  Vail was one of the only ones who had a car, so we all were able to take advantage of her kindness especially if we on the same learning rotation with. her.  I can clearly remember the night of her first date with Rich.  It was excessively hot, especially when the dorm heated up - no A/C of course.  There were perhaps 3-4 of us in her room as she dressed.  We all got the giggles as Vail attempted to put on her girdle (yes, we all wore girdles to hold up our stockings and make sure our butts didn't jiggle).  We ended up covering her with baby powder so she could pull the girdle up.  It was clear to us that Rich became her one true love.  The last time I saw Vail was when several of us nursing grads gathered at Mary (Linnerooth) Petersen's summer home near Alexandria.  We all easily slipped into the same behaviors we had known in college.  We were "family".  Sending my love,  Judy


To Vail's family,
First, I am deeply saddened to hear of Vail's passing.  I live in Chimney Pines, Eden Prairie and moved here six years ago from Atlanta.  Vail played Bunco in our ladies gathering monthly here, and I had the privilege to get to know her a bit during those fun social occasions.  I used to kid around with her about the way she rolled the dice with both hands, and called it the "Vail" roll.  She definitely had a sense of humor! We talked about our dogs, and I loved especially the way Pepper went in circles when he walked down the street.  She was always quiet, but I could tell she had some stories to tell about her interesting life.  I truly missed her after she left our neighborhood.   Please know that Vail made an impact on me, and she will be remembered very fondly and with love.  Peace to you at this sad time.

I met Vail when I was about 10 years old at Dayton’s Bluff Elementary. My dad was diagnosed with cancer, and because of the stress I had during this time as a kid, I would find myself in her office daily. It was a safe haven for me. She would let me stay in her office until I felt like I was ready to go back to class. Vail and I developed a close relationship the following years. She would write me letters while I lived in Rochester for my dads treatment. She even brought me out to lunch a few times. She was always a constant in my life while I was struggling with my dads illness. 
Vail was a role model to me and is the reason I pursued nursing as my career. I now have my BSN and am a Labor and Delivery nurse. A few years back when I graduated, I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be awesome to have Vail pin me at my ceremony? Unfortunately, I searched for her and did not come up with any leads. I am saddened to hear of her passing, and wish we would have reconnected in my adult life. She would have been proud to see how far I’ve come in life. Rest In Peace Vail.  Until we meet again.
