WADE PHILLIP STEWART "I've never seen such dignity and grace under these circumstances. Wade has found a way, as only he can do, to make this whole experience easier on those of us who love him. True to form, Wade has taught us through the years how to live, and now. . .how to die." Wade Phillip Stewart, 69, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday October 11th, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Wade graduated from Presbyterian College in 1966, served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and retired from a very successful Sales career with the IBM corporation. He is preceded in death by his daughter Stacie Lorraine, his parents Vardeman and Julia Stewart, his brother David, and his stepmother Louise Stewart. Left to cherish his memory is his loving "present wife", Cathy, who shared with him a wonderful life and marriage of 27 years. He is also survived by in-laws Paula and Joe Hough and Vanessa and Mike Jones, of Savannah, Ga. as well as a niece Ashley Jones and nephews Drew Jones and Austin Jones and an extended family of so many wonderful friends. Wade was a fabulous father and cherished his daughter Stacie. Wade's legacy is the friendships he maintained over his lifetime as well as the new friendships he continued to create. He was a true Southern Gentleman, an honorable man and faithful friend. He formed many unique and special friendships, always filled with inspiration and laughter. During his illness he came to understand "His passion was his friends". It is said that the wealth of a man is not measured by the money he accumulates, but by the number of friends he has. And for that, Wade was a very very wealthy man. A very special thank you to Allyson Zalva of Hospice Atlanta for the loving care and special relationship she formed with Wade. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 20th, 1:30 pm at Patterson Oglethorpe Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the service at Food 101, 4969 Roswell Road, Atlanta, Ga. 30342. Memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice Atlanta, 1224 Park Vista Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30319
