I was shocked to learn of Bill's death. as a banker I dealt with the FRB Atlanta, and with Bill, for most of my professional career. He was always fair, willing to listen and unfraid to express opinions. I learned a lot from him and became a better banker in the process. may he rest in peace.

Dear Susan:  Bill was not only my mentor, but a dear friend and fellow follower of History.  We would often discuss historical events and I truly enjoyed his insight and knowledge of European history and its impact on Latin America. I fondly remember our trip to England and touring historical sites together. I miss him already and regret not being able to have lunch with him one more time.

Mr Estes was someone I worked with and admired.  He was a strong and confident leader in the office.  I am so sorry he lost his fight with cancer.  He will be remembered by so many people.  His life touched many people.

Bill and I became friends during high school.  He was always someone of great integrity and humor, and will be missed. My thoughts are with him and his family during this difficult time.
