I am so very sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  I have great memories of Bill from the Cross Keys days.  He was a wonderful person who always had a smile for everybody.  He will be greatly missed.

Dear Puckett family:

I was shocked and saddened to hear that Bill had passed away.  I can only smile when I think of Bill and growing up in Brookhaven.  I saw Bill at a funeral two years ago and we picked up where we left off. Bill told me then that he had moved back to the "hood".  We reminisced about our fun times at Brookhaven Baptist.  Bill, Joan Puckett and I laughed our way through our early years.  Oh my, I have a memory of the three of us hanging out a window (3rd or 4th floor) in the Educational Building at Training Union one Sunday evening!

Freddy also has good memories of Bill from Little League--he could run like the wind and was always smiling.

I know that Bill is smiling down on all of us.  I find comfort in so many good memories of my church buddy.  I can hear him singing "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine."

We will miss Bill and please know that we are thinking about all of you.

I found out yesterday about Bill's passing from Mike Brown.  I am very saddened by him leaving us so soon and condolences to all of the Pucket family.  

He will be missed by all.  He always had the best sense of humor - I will remember Bill and friends being together at Cross Keys and doing all the crazy stuff we kids did back then.  It always seemed to be so easy for Bill to make people laugh - I will remember him this way.  He was a good friend for most of my life and I hate to see him go. God bless you Bill.

I do not remebr meeting Bill or Willie as he was commonly known to me. He was my Godfather, my friend, and the man who introduced me to the love of my life! I will alwyas have the found memories of countless  good times shared.

Jimmy and Fay Owens (Brookhaven,Ga.)

    I met Bill when he was five years old.  We stole Tommy Jean's bicycle.  I had to pedal because he was to little.  He rode on the fender.  We went to the fire station, he knew everyone there.  We were friends every day for 54 years.  He was my best friend, and a United States Marine.  He 
was one of the few.

I have known Bill since 1st grade but it was just a few years ago we became friends. I think about him everyday because I have two great dogs that he gave to me when they were puppies, they are the offspring of his basset hound, Pearl. I will always remember him driving Pearl around Brookhaven in a blue convertable.

I can't think of many people who loved to make people laugh more than Bill. To Doug and family my prayers are with you and I know he will surely be missed.God Bless You All.

My wife, Janet, and I were so saddened to learn about Bill's sudden death. I recall with much fondness the wonderful memories we all shared growing up together in Brookhaven. We keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. With sincerest sympathy and affection.

Bill's smile and enthusiasm will surely be missed.....Robert remembers the weekends at the "farm" around the campfire. Bill would tell stories about growing up in Brookhaven....the fun times. He kept the attention of all the younger guys listening to his wit. 

Sometimes he would help plow the fields and ride the tractor to get ready for the next hunting season. He loved it.

He was known at the farm as the "Duke" and sometimes even the "Mayor of Brookhaven"...all enjoyed those good times together...just the guys.

He will surely be missed. Sending all his family our prayers and thoughts.

The world will be a little less colorful without Bill in it, for sure.  Whenever I think of him the picture that comes into my mind's eye is one where  he's  got that wry smile and glint in his eyes.  I offer my sincerest condolences to family and friends.

I was so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I have such great memories of him from growing up. And I can sympathize about the pain of losing a son/brother. As a matter of fact, the last time I saw Bill was a little over a year ago, when he came to the funeral of my sister Connie. He told me the sweetest story about her that I had never heard before. Seems that when Bill was struggling with his grades at Cross Keys, he and Connie would meet at the bottom of those stone stairs that led from Cross Keys down to the vacant field across the road from the gym, and she would help him with his homework. Or, as he said, she'd do it for him, because she was bound and determined to get him through it. Which I guess she did. He very much wanted us to know how much that meant to him, and I want you all to know how much his story meant to me.
I can't believe they are both gone so young now, so I'll picture them sitting together at the bottom of that concrete staircase, curly heads together, trying to solve the mysteries of math, when the world was still young and simple. My deepest condolences to all of you.

I am so sad to hear about Bill's death. What great memories I have of him from Cross Keys. My prayers are with you all. May the love and grace of our Lord, give you peace and strength, now and always.
