He attended St. Pius X Catholic High School, and went on to attend Georgia Southern University where he was a third-generation member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Mackey was known as the laugh of the room. With his quick wit, magnetic personality, and genuinely caring nature, he had a way of bringing people together and making everyone around him feel welcome. His sense of humor and ability to light up a room will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He loved spending time with family and friends, cheering on his favorite football teams, and being alongside his beloved three-legged dog, Dexter, who was never far from his side.
Mackey is survived by his mother and father, Jay and Joyce Rawls, and sister Sarah (William) Greene, along with his many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.
Mackey’s life will be celebrated on Friday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel in Brookhaven, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mackey’s memory to the Atlanta Humane Society.
