It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Yelli Tan, beloved mother, sister, and wife, who passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 94. Yelli was the last surviving sibling of eight—six brothers and one sister—and she leaves behind cherished memories for her family and loved ones.
Yelli was born in 1930, and in 1967, she and her husband, Dr. Kim H. Tan, made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States with their young son, Budi. Arriving in a new country with limited English,
Yelli faced challenges with strength and grace, dedicating herself entirely to supporting her husband and son. She was a loving stay-at-home mother and wife, never seeking time for herself but instead focusing on the well-being and happiness of her family.
Together with her husband, Yelli traveled extensively, exploring six continents over the years. Her adventures allowed her to experience the world beyond her wildest dreams, but she always considered her family to be her greatest gift.
Yelli’s legacy lives on through her only son, Budi Tan, his wife Mutiara, and her beloved grandson Christian. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom were deeply touched by her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Yelli’s life was marked by sacrifice, devotion, and a quiet strength. Though she may not have sought the spotlight, her impact on those around her will never be forgotten. She touched the lives of many with her selfless love and her ability to weather life's challenges with grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Foundation in Yelli’s memory.
