Yvonne was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Thomas and Alyce Campbell. A curious, precocious child, she was deeply loyal to her loved ones and famously refused to take "no" for an answer. If anyone dared to tell her she was too young or inexperienced, she took it as a personal challenge to prove them wrong, and she always did.
In her early 20s, Yvonne embarked on a successful 32-year career with Delta Airlines, establishing a network of cherished, lifelong friendships. After relocating to Atlanta, she met and married the love of her life, Clarence. As a young couple, they poured their hearts into renovating their first house, transforming it into their dream home. In 1975, they welcomed their beloved son, Shomari.
Yvonne’s true passion was exploring the world. She caught the travel bug early and visited over 50 countries, touching down on every continent except Antarctica. She felt most alive when she was on the move, whether she was enjoying a show in Las Vegas, taking her grandchildren on a tour of Europe, or cruising around Australia. She shared these adventures with her favorite people: Clarence and Shomari; Shomari, Megha, and her grandchildren; and her crew of best friends, the “Delta Divas.”
Her three grandchildren, Taran, Clare, and Laurel, were the absolute apple of her eye. Yvonne was so proud of them, happily attending every play, musical, and art show, and always seeing the brilliance in everything they did. She was their beloved “Mema” and their biggest cheerleader.
Yvonne was a fiercely independent woman and the perfect blend of elegance, grace, and wisdom. Her vivacious personality, quick wit, and fun-loving spirit drew people to her and gave her several wonderful, lifelong friendships.
Yvonne has been reunited in heaven with her parents, Thomas and Alyce Campbell; husband, Clarence; and brother, Tony. She is survived by her cherished son, Shomari; daughter-in-love, Megha; three beloved grandchildren, Taran, Clare, and Laurel; and dear sister, Gwendolyn Rawlins.
A visitation will be held at HM Patterson and Son – Oglethorpe Hill on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. People may drop in during this time to pay their respects and celebrate her legacy. Please wear vibrant colors in honor of Yvonne’s vibrant life.
