Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Morgan Funeral Home for Albert Wayne Elkins, 82, son of the late William Albert and Mildred Elizabeth McElwee Elkins, who entered into the gates of glory Monday, July 6, 2020.
He left his earthly home to be joined again with his loving wife of 57 years Ella Jo, his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and granddaughter, Patricia Jill Elkins. Joey Jones will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Mr. Elkins was a loving husband, father, son, brother, Papaw and friend to all.
Mr. Elkins retired from Hayes International after 26 years of service, where he was an aircraft painter. After retirement, he opened a truck refinishing/sandblasting company, a salvage company and then E.J. trucking company.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, riding horses, working with his hands, driving tractors and heavy equipment, growing vegetables, panning for gold, riding motorcycles and he was an excellent marksman. He had a huge heart and spent most of his time and energy helping his family and other people he loved. Of his many talents, he loved writing music, playing the guitar, singing and making music with his family the most.
Left on this earth to carry out his legacy of love, his passion for life and generous spirit, are his five children, Letresha Elkins, Archie (Meredith) Elkins, Kenneth (Charlotte) Elkins, Paula (Mike) Rank, Troy (Tina) Elkins; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 2 brothers; and 1 sister; dearly chosen Mason Caldwell, Glenn Cox, Randy Noojin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other special friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family will receive guests from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
There will be no graveside service.
